On the 26th of July 1958 G-APIM made its first commercial flight. In new applied British European Airways (BEA) colours it flew from London (Heathrow) to Barcelona. The pilot on that first flight was Stephen's father Ray Piercey.

Fifty years later, John Woodhouse along with the rest of the G-APIM Team, decided to hold a celebration to mark the event and invited those who had been part of IM life to join them. Afterwards everyone went back to Ray and Patsy's home for lunch and speeches. Many of the guests had not seen each other for years.
